Managing Food Processing Industry Waste

Food industry should also have to concentrate on waste avoidance as well as utilization of processed wastes. Food processing wastes have a potential for conversion into useful products of higher value as by product, or even as raw material for other industries, or for use as food or feed after biological treatment.

Considering the challenges in the area of food industry, efforts are to be made to optimize processing technologies to minimize the amount of waste. Environmental legislation has significantly contributed to the introduction of sustainable waste management practices worldwide.

Many standard industrial waste treatment texts sufficiently address a few major technologies for conventional in plant environmental control strategies in the food industry.

Large volumes of wastes is being produced by the food industry, both solids and liquid, resulting from the production, preparation and consumption of food. These wastes pose increasing disposal and can pose severe pollution problems and represent a loss of valuable biomass and nutrients.

another Recommendations

8- Reducing the usage of water and power through:
 - using water counters to notice the amount of water used.
 - using trunks with automatic closing values and clasps with marks to      know the position of the flow (closed-out flowing-directed).
- using high pressure cleaning systems with small shape (such as the      in-place cleaning systems) to clean machines and equipments.
  - Entering water level controlling systems and automatic stopping            pumps into the tanks that are exposed to to overflowing.
 - recycling cooling water through cooling towers
    - Reducing spilling water near packing machines and reducing the            amount of water used in washing floors.
    - repairing the places of leaking.
    - recycling condensed steam.
    - handling solid remains when dry (to avoid sweeping hard remains         with water).
   - isolating steam pipes.
 - using steam snares/nets.
     - Repairing or replacing damaged steam values.
     - increasing the efficiency of boilers.
     - using pressure regulators on steam pipes.
9- Procedures to limit polluting air through:
     - replacing fuel oil that contains a high percentage of sulphur with           gasoline or natural gas.
  - adjusting the percentage of air with fuel so that the process of                burning could happen in plenty of oxygen guaranteeing the                      transforming of carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide.
  - adjusting the temperature of burning to prevent forming hangs down     bulks and nitrogen oxides.
10- Paying attention to what so called environmental industrial        compounds, this is considered a better use for the secondary products that are staying behind those projects included in such compounds.
We must mention that:- or we must not forget that:
Those environmental industrial compounds are a wide umbrella that covers more than just:-
   - One type to exchange unessential outputs or a network of exchanges.
   - A process to recycle.
     -  A group of companies specialized in environmental technology
     - a group of companies that produce products which are convenient to      environment.
    - An industrial compound that is designed concerning an                           environmental subject such as solar energy.
    - A compound that uses infrastructure that is convenient to                        environment.

there are some Recommendations

Recommendations:-
1- Knowing the different components and volume of the remains in each district to crate program to get ride of it and to plane to benefit from it.
2- Educating citizens how participate in separating home remains to be the process of recycling.
3- Media support to the issue of remains to raise the level of knowledge for citizens and factory owners.
4- Encouraging graduates and small investors to invest by owning compressors and collecting and separating remains using the help of the environment protecting fund of the ministry of environmental affairs.
5- making in-plant modification to reduce the concentration of polluting materials in the drainage by retrieving these materials all separating, joining the drain ducts which need treatment improve the performance of the stations of liquid drainage treatment.
6- Making in-process modification such as; using modern techniques, finding alternatives for dangerous raw materials and increasing the efficiency of working and controlling systems.
7- The end-of- pipe procedures that include treating or separating polluters to get rid of them. On the country of treating outputs do not get any economical profit to the facility but they are only accomplished to achieve the commitment of environmental laws.

what is The objectives?

The objectives:

The aims of the research are summarized as follows:
1- showing the economical and environmental harm produced out of the remains of these industries.
2- Showing how we can benefit from recycling this
remains.
3- The importance of international co-operation for preserving the environment.
4- Evaluating the economical and environmental effects of recycling the remains of some food industries.
5- Expanding in applying the clean production for developing countries.
6- Increasing the importance of the media to spread the awareness of how important to fight pollution.
7- Reaching sophisticated food industries accompanied with a clean and healthy environment.
8- Safe handling when getting rid of the remains which is hard to recycle.
9- Supporting applying the necessary laws to support the particular policies of the strategy of preserving environment (such as law 4 of the year 1994 concerning preserving the environment).

what is The assumption?

The assumption:

1- There is a relation between industrial progress and environmental pollution.
2- There is economical and environmental effects produced out of the food industry remains.
3- Recycling and using these remains accomplish positive effects on environment and national income.

what is the problem?

The problem:
1- There are several environmental effects of the food industry remains.
2- Not benefiting in a good way from the remains of some food industries.
3- There will be economical effects if we did not benefit from the food industry remains.

not benefiting of the remains

not benefiting of this remains negatively influences the surrounding environment if we did not get rid of it in a healthy and safe way. This also well affects the living being on earth. So the issue of getting ride of remains or recycling it will not only benefit those countries which follow a system of protecting environment against risks, but will also benefit all other countries on earth.

introduction

Any developed or developing society has lots of organic remains. There are organic remains in most of the third world countries such as Egypt. There are different ways of dealing with these remains. Food industries are distinguished with plenty of remains produced so theses countries are recycling this remains which get economical, environmental and social profit to theses societies.

So, as well as other countries which are concerned about environmental sciences, Egypt is interested in benefiting of this remains.
